This is Mercedes Lackey's character Skandranon from the Mage Wars trilogy. This picture is of him in his White Gryphon form, after he got caught in the place between Gates and was bleached by magic. Skan's majorly cool, no? And yes, I see the imperfections in the picture, the major of which is his talons. >.< I'm used to drawing paws, not talons.

I must admit that when I started this picture, I started copying off the cover of The White Gryphon but it evolved into something my own. You might see that his pose (mostly his head, neck and wings) mirrors the pose on the front of the book, but there are some major differences such as where his hind legs are, and the battle stave I added at the end. ^_^

I'm rather proud of this picture, and I'm beginning to think I'll stop doing digital art and work with pencil more. I like having more control over my shading.
